The region’s demand for skilled tech talent continues to accelerate, and our ecosystem must evolve with intention. This Workforce Debrief below brings together insights from employers, educators, community partners and mid-career professionals to understand where Milwaukee stands today and what it will take to build a stronger, more inclusive tech talent pipeline. 

Across three events including more than 200 participants, several themes emerged:  

  • Mid-career talent is ready to advance with emerging technologies but faces stalled progress due to unclear pathways and inconsistent employer support. 
  • Employers want practical, project-based upskilling that delivers measurable capability rather than siloed training.  
  • Cross-sector collaboration is the region’s strongest lever. When industry, education, and community align, talent pipelines strengthen and mobility flourishes.
