Artificial Intelligence Literacy (Grades 9 – 12)
This program is for students entering 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the 2026-2027 school year. This program is a full day (9:00 – 4:00), one day program.
Under the instruction of MSOE faculty, students will learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications beyond generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.). Students will learn how to use Jupyter notebooks and leverage Python to develop a basic classification model. In the afternoon, students will use Python to build their own AI model from the ground up based on a real world application of AI in industry.
This program content is the same as the 2025 session. Return students are welcome, but the content will be identical.
Students must have experience coding with Python to enroll in this program.
PREREQUISITES
MSOE summer programs are unique in that the duration of the program is almost entirely spent in a classroom-style environment. Snack breaks (all programs) and lunch breaks (full day programs only) will include some free time, but otherwise, camp time is spent working on STEM labs, activities, and projects. Most programs utilize technology which may involve sitting on a computer for extended durations doing coding or design work.
Students must have experience coding with Python to enroll in this program.
A fundamental learning outcome of nearly all STEM programs includes working in teams to solve problems. With few exceptions, we are unable to accommodate students who wish or need to work independently.

To help ensure we can continue to sustain summer programs, scholarships are now offered on a pay-what-you-can model. A recommended contribution per student is listed in the application, however, families may contribute any amount they are able. Payment is not due at this time – if selected for a scholarship, you will receive a link to finalize registration and payment.
