In our first episode, we sit down with Kate Weiland-Moores and Meghan Focht of Concurrency for a conversation on what it really means to grow in your career, lead authentically, and build something meaningful in Milwaukee’s tech ecosystem. 

On continuous learning: Both Kate and Meghan emphasized that growth at this stage of their careers looks less like formal education and more like staying curious. From podcasts and YouTube to learning from mistakes and failing fast, they champion a mindset of openness over a structured path. 

On authentic leadership: For Kate and Meghan, authentic leadership starts with knowing your values and finding an organization where those values are lived out loud. They spoke to the importance of psychological safety, bringing your whole self to work, and creating space for people to speak up and push back respectfully. 

On Milwaukee’s tech ecosystem: The two touched on what makes Milwaukee’s tech community uniquely collaborative, crediting the tight-knit nature of the city and organizations like the MKE Tech Hub Coalition for fostering those connections. They also shared their excitement about the next generation of tech talent and the importance of building relationships at the high school level and beyond.
